The Island Golf Club is located close to Dublin, 10 minutes drive from Dublin Airport and is an ideal and convenient location for corporate & society golf events and for client entertainment. Visitors to The Island enjoy a true championship links golf experience followed by the highest standard of hospitality in the Club’s bars and restaurant. The Island, founded in 1890, was among the first twelve Golf Clubs to be founded in Ireland. The early course was laid out generously in terms of land as the founder members, precluded from any serious earthmoving, followed the valleys and laid out eighteen individual holes. The course has altered many times since that time to become the championship course of today with Fred Hawtree and Eddie Hackett redesigning the Island Golf Course during the 1970’s. The Club has been selected by the R & A as the qualifying course in Ireland for the Open Championship from 2005 to 2010 and hosted the Irish Ladies Close and the European Amateur Youths Championships 2004. After being voted no 70 in Golf Worlds Top 100 in the British Isles in November 2004 issue, the Island was listed as No 26 in the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World in Golf Worlds November 2005 issue.
